Burnt cedar corduroy cladding adds texture and rhythm to the yoga studio situated at the rear of the family garden.  The material was chosen because of its calming feeling and ancient connection to healing and purification.  The studio opens up to the new planted courtyard via large sliding glazing, and includes roof lights to provide the visual connection to the sky.  

The secluded zone away from the property and neighbouring gardens is formed by lowering both the structure and courtyard. This allows the integrated stepped planters to rise from the existing garden and onto the green roof, to aid in embedding the outbuilding within the landscape.
